In addition to the benefits you’d expect, UK employees also receive free single medical cover and digital GP service, family-friendly benefits such as enhanced parental leave pay and free membership of employee assistance and parental programmes, plus reimbursement towards relevant professional development and memberships.

Work-life balance and flexibility is a key focus area for us. We’re happy to discuss hybrid, part-time and flexible working hours, patterns and locations to suit you and our business.

About the Opportunity
Amentum is currently recruiting for a Digital Engineer to join our Energy business, which is entering an exciting phase of opportunity supporting new small and advanced modular reactor developers internationally. Our work is varied, covering nuclear projects (Licensing, New Build, Generation, Life Extension, and Defueling). We’re looking for a driven individual who embraces collaboration and diversity, and who shares our vision to create a secure and vibrant future by continuously reinventing, realising breakthroughs and taking on challenges with courage.

Our goal is to support development of new nuclear technologies and to keep existing power stations operating safely, contributing to the UK’s Net Zero carbon target.

And this is where you come in
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in engineering design, CAD, BIM, or digital engineering who has hands-on experience using AVEVA E3D and wants to play a key role in improving digital project delivery. You will work closely with engineers, designers, project managers, construction teams, and clients to ensure that models are accurate, coordinated, and aligned with project standards. The role will involve model development, clash checking, drawing and report production, data validation, issue resolution, and support for digital handover.

The ideal candidate will have practical AVEVA E3D experience, a good understanding of engineering design processes, and the ability to work confidently in a multi-discipline project environment. Experience with BIM standards, ISO 19650, AVEVA administration, PML scripting, point cloud data, or digital handover would be advantageous.

People are at the heart of everything we do
Central to the success of the role will be your people skills, building effective relationships and interacting with multiple internal and external stakeholders in multiple locations. You’ll also work closely with colleagues to support activities that offer the best service to the client. Through your interactions, you’ll be able to gather useful intelligence on client needs and work with the team to deliver innovative solutions.

You’ll utilise your strong communication and engagement skills to achieve client, people and business outcomes, working with your team and peers that are based in different locations across the UK.

We’re continuously evolving and growing the business, so there’s plenty of opportunity to evolve and grow your skills and career too.
This role will be based at one of our Energy offices (Newcastle, Warrington, Gloucester, Bristol or Knutsford). We put flexibility at the heart of what we do and we’re happy to consider flexible working patterns. Key responsibilities could include:

  • Developing, maintaining, and coordinating 3D engineering models using AVEVA E3D
  • Supporting multi-discipline model development across areas such as piping, mechanical, structural, civil, electrical, instrumentation, HVAC, or plant layout
  • Producing and checking model outputs, including general arrangement drawings, layouts, reports, material take-offs, bills of materials, and other project deliverables
  • Ensuring model data is accurate, structured, complete, and aligned with project standards, client requirements, and agreed information management processes
  • Carrying out model reviews, clash checks, constructability reviews, and design coordination activities
  • Working with engineering teams to interpret P&IDs, specifications, design standards, equipment layouts, piping arrangements, cable routes, structural arrangements, and vendor information
  • Supporting the creation, management, and validation of tags, attributes, metadata, catalogues, specifications, and model status information
  • Maintaining compliance with company digital engineering procedures, CAD/BIM standards, naming conventions, revision controls, and model governance requirements
  • Supporting integration between AVEVA E3D and other digital tools, including common data environments, document management systems, review platforms, and reporting tools
  • Assisting with digital handover requirements, asset information deliverables, as-built model updates, and final project information records
  • Supporting continuous improvement of digital engineering workflows, automation, templates, reporting processes, and model quality checks
  • Liaising with designers, engineers, project managers, construction teams, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to resolve model and information issues
  • Providing technical support and guidance to project teams on AVEVA E3D model use, data requirements, and digital delivery processes

Skills and Qualifications (the following list outlines desirable skills and qualifications. While these attributes are valued, we understand that applicants may not possess all of them. We therefore encourage applications from individuals with relevant experience and potential):

  • Practical experience using AVEVA E3D in an engineering design or project delivery environment
  • Experience with AVEVA E3D administration, catalogues, specifications, model setup, rules, reports, drawing templates, or project configuration
  • Knowledge of AVEVA PDMS, AVEVA Diagrams, AVEVA Engineering, AVEVA Unified Engineering, AVEVA AIM, or other AVEVA engineering tools
  • Experience working with 3D engineering models on complex, multi-discipline projects
  • Good understanding of engineering design principles and project delivery processes
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, P&IDs, layouts, isometrics, equipment data, and vendor documentation.
  • Experience producing or supporting engineering deliverables from a 3D model, such as drawings, reports, MTOs, BoMs, or model review outputs
  • Familiarity with clash detection, model coordination, model review, and issue resolution processes
  • Experience with PML scripting, automation, data extraction, reporting, or workflow optimisation
  • Experience with BIM or digital engineering standards, including ISO 19650 information management principles
  • Experience with common data environments such as ProjectWise, BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud, SharePoint, Asite, Aconex, or similar
  • Experience with design review and coordination tools such as Navisworks, Solibri, AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, SmartPlant, or similar
  • Experience working with point cloud data, laser scans, brownfield surveys, or as-built verification
  • Understanding of asset information requirements, digital twins, digital handover, or operational data management
  • Experience in one or more of the following sectors: energy, nuclear, oil and gas, chemicals, water, utilities, power, marine, pharmaceutical, infrastructure, manufacturing, or heavy industry

Preferred qualifications include:

  • HNC, HND, degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in an engineering, design, digital engineering, CAD, BIM, construction, or related technical discipline
  • Formal AVEVA E3D training, certification, or demonstrable workplace experience
  • Relevant discipline background in piping, mechanical, structural, civil, electrical, instrumentation, process, plant layout, or building services engineering
  • Membership of a relevant professional body would be beneficial, such as ICE, IMechE, IET, IChemE, CIOB, or an equivalent technical institution
