This Autumn, Sticks'n'Sushi is coming to Birmingham - our first restaurant in the Midlands, opening in the Paradise development on Chamberlain Square.

Sticks’n’Sushi is as unique as the city we're coming to. We serve high-quality, fresh food based on a unique combination of classic and creative sushi along with sticks from the grill, bringing a blend of Danish design, Japanese dining and generous hospitality. Attracting both families and trendsetters, amazing service in beautiful restaurants is driven by our amazing team - our Strange Fish.

£43,000 to £46,000 per annum inclusive of tronc (every penny of the service charge is shared between the team in the restaurant)

We’re looking for you: a true craftsperson, passionate about creating things in the best way, to the very best they can be. You’ll have Sous Chef experience in a busy kitchen with a strong knowledge of crafting exceptional sushi, with a calm spirit that tunes in and focusses, rising above that buzz. What you’ll be doing at Sticks ’n’ Sushi:

• Helping to take responsibility for all aspects of the operation in the kitchen, from prep and food quality through to cleanliness, compliance and cost control
• Ensuring we create top-class sushi and the very best kushiyaki sticks
• Putting your passion and pride into ensuring a delicious plate and experience for every guest, every time
• Being part of a family that will help you flourish and become the best you can be
• Nurturing, coaching and developing other members of the kitchen team

What you’ll bring to us:

• Sous Chef experience in a busy kitchen
• Excellent knife and sushi-making skills
• Fluency in English, the language of our kitchen
• An eye for detail; always upholding the highest standards and ensuring every shift is in the very safest pair of hands
• A love of deepening your craft, with a respect for rituals and traditions but a curiousity to bring your own spark and ideas
• Team spirit, kindness & respect. We only swear at ourselves here, no-one else.
• Thinking “we” rather than “I”
• A desire to have fun as you work with your fellow chefs; togetherness is the word.
• A genuine commitment to making people happy, ensuring you have one of the happiest teams in the industry
