Job overview

Are you looking for a fulfilling senior leadership role in a world leading organisation? If so, we are seeking a talented, motivated and values-driven Service Managers to join our leadership team at GOSH.

You will be responsible for the effective day to day operational and performance management of our Radiology Service.

You will also be expected to deliver a culture of continuous improvement across Radiology with the primary aim of improving the lives of children at GOSH.

Main duties of the job

As an experienced operational manager with excellent management skills, you thrive when working in a dynamic fast-paced environment, balancing competing demands and tackling daily challenges. You are known for delivering high quality work with keen attention to detail and are a team player who tailors your communication style to your audience. You possess the ability to work independently as well as to lead teams and transformational workstreams. The interests of patients and your staff is at the heart of everything you do.

This role represents an excellent opportunity for experienced managers who are looking to broaden their breadth of experience and make genuine change in a hospital with an established reputation for research, education, teaching, innovation and quality of care.

  • Educated to degree level or significant relevant experience

  • Post graduate management qualification or equivalent level of study
  • Project Management qualification or equivalent experience

Experience/Knowledge

  • NHS Operational Management experience at band 7 or equivalent
  • Experience of leading a service and managing a team and its development
  • Experience of leading and delivering transformation / change projects
  • Experience of managing a budget and cost improvement
  • Working knowledge of delivering national waiting time performance targets
  • Experience of contributing towards business case development and understanding the key requirements of a proposa

Skills/Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Highly effective interpersonal, communication and people management skills when dealing with complex or contentious information
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and present complex data/information
  • Ability to innovate; able to problem solve and make decisions from a broad range of complex options
