Support Assistant – SEN Schools

Chorley & Skelmersdale | Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities | September Starts

We are recruiting Support Assistants to work across a number of Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools in Chorley and Skelmersdale, with both full-time and part-time positions available from September.

This role is ideal for individuals from a range of backgrounds, particularly:

  • Teaching Assistants

  • Individuals with experience supporting vulnerable people

The Role

As a Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who have a variety of additional needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Learning disabilities
  • Communication difficulties

You will help students to access learning, develop social skills, build confidence and achieve their individual goals in a safe and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support
  • Assisting students in the classroom and throughout the school day
  • Supporting behaviour management strategies
  • Encouraging engagement in learning activities
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Promoting independence, confidence and wellbeing

You don't need previous school experience to be successful in this role. We are looking for people with:

  • Patience, resilience and empathy
  • A positive and proactive attitude
  • The ability to build strong relationships
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people

Ex-Forces candidates often excel due to their leadership, adaptability and teamwork skills.

Sports Coaches bring valuable experience motivating young people, promoting confidence and managing behaviour in group settings.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
