Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work full-time from September in one of our welcoming partner infant schools in Poole.

This rewarding role involves providing dedicated one-to-one support for a child with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Working closely with the class teacher and SENDCo, you will play a key role in helping the child access learning, achieve their individual targets and develop both academically and socially within a supportive classroom environment.

The Role

As the child's dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide consistent one-to-one support throughout the school day.
  • Deliver strategies and interventions outlined within the child's EHCP.
  • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the child's individual needs.
  • Support communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and inclusion in all aspects of school life.
  • Build a positive, trusting relationship to help the child feel safe, engaged and motivated to learn.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and external professionals to monitor progress and support the child's development.
  • Record observations and contribute to reviewing targets and progress.
  • Support with personal care where required.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs, ideally within a school setting.
  • Is patient, caring and resilient, with a genuine passion for helping children succeed.
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
  • Is adaptable, proactive and able to use their initiative.
  • Has strong communication skills and enjoys working as part of a team.

Experience supporting children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language needs, SEMH or other additional needs would be advantageous but is not essential.
