Host role at The Bull - an Independent Neighbourhood Pub in Wanstead. We’re looking for a brilliant Host to join our team. About the Host Role You’ll be the first smile guests see when they walk through the door and the person who sets the tone for their whole visit. Whether it’s a busy Friday night, a sunny afternoon in our outdoor garden or a relaxed Sunday lunch, you’ll make every guest feel looked after from the very start. Our front outdoor garden is a huge part of the atmosphere and energy of The Bull, so this role is about much more than standing at a host desk. You’ll help create a lively, welcoming vibe both inside and outside — greeting guests, managing the flow of tables and making sure every area feels looked after. What you'll be doing Welcoming guests with genuine warmth, confidence and personality Managing bookings, walk-ins and table flow smoothly Seating guests thoughtfully across both the pub and outdoor garden spaces Helping create an energetic, organised and welcoming atmosphere outside as well as inside Keeping guests informed and comfortable during busy periods Supporting the wider floor team to deliver brilliant hospitality Making families and all guests feel genuinely comfortable and cared for Communicating clearly with Managers and the wider team We'd love to hear from you if you Naturally enjoy being around people Thrive in lively, fast-paced environments Stay calm and positive under pressure Are organised, proactive and switched on Bring warmth, personality and energy wherever you are Take pride in making people feel welcome Experience in hospitality is great, but personality and attitude matter most. Our ideal candidate will also have previous experience of design my night booking system The focused working hours for this role will be Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays What we are offering Competitive hourly rate of £13.25 - £14.25 per hour Plus additional tronc/service payments Immediate starts and a focus on employee well-being, including employee assistance support. About The Bull in Wanstead The Bull in Wanstead, is a beautiful, listed building and a former bank. The Bull has a rich history and has been a huge part of the local community since its inception as a pub ten year ago. A pub full of character, it boasts a first floor private room alongside an epic garden. It has been at the centre of many events, celebrations and Summer parties over the years. The Bull is located on Wanstead High Street, 100 yards from Wanstead Tube Station, so also offers a great commute and it prides itself on being a real community pub. The Bull is part of Livelyhood Venues, an established London based owner, creator, and operator of inviting and independent neighbourhood businesses.
