Job description
Registered Veterinary Nurse & Clinical Coach RVN and Clinical Coach — Torquay (Newton Abbot & Teignmouth) — Full Time About Us Quarry House Vets is a local independent small animal veterinary practice. Our main surgery is in Torquay with our smaller clinics in Newton Abbot & Teignmouth. We are RCVS accredited and an approved veterinary nurse training centre. We are a RWAF Silver Rabbit Friendly Clinic and an accredited ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic. The Role This is a challenging, yet very rewarding role. You will work closely alongside a talented and dedicated group of professionals who value colleague collaboration, team and individual learning development and exceptional patient care. This is the perfect opportunity to join a fun, friendly and supportive nursing team with over 50 combined years of experience. You will be using innovative technology, including the latest laboratory equipment for rapid results on blood and urine tests, ultrasound, x-ray, and advanced monitoring equipment. Duties and Responsibilities as a RVN * Admitting patients into the practice to have diagnostic tests, observations or surgical procedures. * Managing the treatments and monitoring of inpatients, handling any changes that may occur. * Taking blood samples and running them through the laboratory machines or examining them under a microscope. * Cleaning and preparing the theatre and equipment ready for the day’s procedures. * Preparing patients for surgical procedures, and administering medications confidently. * Assisting with surgeries to ensure well-organised and efficient processes. * Monitoring anaesthetics and patient recovery. * Carrying out veterinary nurse consultations, post operative checks and educating clients on treatment plans, post-op care and health issues. * Overseeing all aspects of patient care such as wound management or palliative care. * Dispensing medicines that have been prescribed by the veterinary surgeon. * Maintaining records, managing medicines, equipment and supplies stock. * Cleaning of consultation rooms, theatre, wards, laboratory room and other areas to prevent the spread of diseases. * Taking any inpatient dogs outside to toilet and catching urine samples. Duties and Responsibilities as a Clinical Coach * Mentoring and supporting our student nurses (maximum of 2 students) by overseeing their training by providing them with guidance and encouragement. * Teaching practical skills, and ensuring their progress is documented in Smart Assessor. * Being responsible for structuring the learning process, promoting positive working relationships with our students. * Attend annual standardisation workshops to maintain your qualifications. You must have at least 1 year’s clinical experience and be willing to attend annual workshops to remain a qualified clinical coach. You must be able to communicate clearly and listen actively to your students. You must have strong organisation skills and be able to adapt training techniques to each individual student. The role requires an organised, empathetic, patient, enthusiastic, trustworthy, competent and communicative individual who is confident and can maintain professional boundaries.
