Position: Science Teacher with Responsibility Location: Shrewsbury Contract: Full-Time Start Date: September Key Stages: KS3–KS5 Science Teacher with Responsibility Role in an Independent School An independent school in Shrewsbury is seeking to appoint a Science Teacher with Responsibility to join its department from September. This is a full-time opportunity within a well-established school that values academic excellence, scientific enquiry, and leadership development. The Science department is a highly regarded area of the school, delivering strong outcomes across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an ambitious teacher looking to take on additional responsibility while continuing to deliver high-quality classroom teaching. About the Role You will teach Science across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that develop students’ scientific understanding, practical skills, and analytical thinking. Alongside classroom teaching, you will take on additional departmental responsibilities, which may include supporting curriculum development, mentoring colleagues, leading an area of the curriculum, supporting assessment strategies, or contributing to STEM enrichment initiatives. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations, helping them build confidence in practical investigations, scientific literacy, and exam technique. You will work collaboratively within a successful department while benefiting from smaller class sizes and strong leadership support. Key Responsibilities Teach Science across KS3, KS4, and KS5 Deliver lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics Take responsibility for an agreed area within the department Support curriculum planning and departmental development Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations Monitor student progress and contribute to intervention strategies Maintain safe laboratory procedures and environments Contribute to STEM enrichment and whole-school initiatives The School Environment This independent school in Shrewsbury provides a supportive and academically ambitious environment where students are encouraged to achieve their full potential.
