Overview

Are you passionate about supporting people's independence and promoting wellbeing? Are you helpful, patient and caring by nature? If so, then we want to hear from you!

We are looking for dedicated Social Care Assistants who can provide high quality direct care and support to residents to join our team at Aylesbury Opportunities Centre.

Our day centres provide day support and activities for adults with learning disabilities, autism, dementia and/or physical disabilities. While some services are more specialised, the core focus across all centres is to deliver high-quality care and support to individuals and their families, helping people learn new skills, build friendships, and develop greater independence through a wide range of activities.

Seeleys House Short Breaks Centre was awarded a rating of 'Good' at the last inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

We have the following positions available:
  • 1 x Social Care Assistant (day centre) 27.5 hours per week
  • 1 x Social Care Assistant (overnight respite) 30 hours per week
  • 1 x Social Care Assistant (overnight respite) 20 hours per week

Please note the service operates 24 hours/365 days a year. Working patterns will be discussed at interview. Please specify your preference in your expression of interest.

Salary: £25,151 - £28,253 per annum pro rata. In addition, you'll receive a 'Golden Hello' payment of £1,000 paid on successful completion of your probationary period (payment will be pro rata for part time hours)

About us

Our vision is to create services that provide excellent standards of care to meet the care and support needs of vulnerable adults, utilising all available resources. We want to ensure that all clients are provided with appropriate emotional, social and physical support, and their strengths and interests are developed. We want to hear from you if you are passionate about making positive changes to our communities and helping people get the best out of life.

Here's what Stephanie had to say 'Every single day that I go to work I make a positive difference in someone's life. My work has true meaning, and even if I've had a challenging day, I know that I've made a positive contribution'.

About the role

No two days will be the same as you meet a variety of people and support their individual needs. Some of the work you will carry out will include:
  • Providing personal care for individuals, this may include but is not limited to supporting with dressing, toileting and washing.
  • Key working a small group of clients
  • Organising and facilitating activity sessions
  • Maintaining client files and support plans
  • Informing senior colleagues and adhere to safeguarding procedure of any concerns which arise in relation to the safety of vulnerable adults.
  • Working in partnership with individuals, carers, service providers, voluntary sector and other professionals.
  • Working as part of a team

Fixed

As a 'fixed' worker, you'll spend most of your time in the same location, which will likely be a fixed office or location where your role is performed. Typically, you'll be based in the same location as the rest of your team, because you provide a particular service from that fixed location or need access to information there.

About you

By joining us, you will be part of something bigger. You will meet a variety of people, supporting their individual needs to make a real difference every single day. Plus, as an employee of Buckinghamshire Council, we support you, your career development and your progression.

Naturally, you will be a great people person, able to deliver practical care and support to an agreed plan, within the community or as part of a CQC regulated function, using own initiative to problem solve utilising remote management oversight, where required.

This may involve undertaking a specialist role that requires specific training (e.g. autism services) or undertaking and administering personal care and/or medication. The ideal candidate will have a minimum Level 2 Care Certificate.

On occasion you may be required to work at our other day centres so the ability to be flexible along with being able to travel is an essential requirement.

For further details, please refer to the full job summary attached.
