Fire Alarm Designer – Asset Intelligence Location: Warrington What you will be doing An opportunity has arisen for a Fire Alarm Designer to join the team Asset Intelligence at Galliford Try. This role offers the opportunity to work on some of the UK’s most prestigious frameworks, with a focus on driving project success through effective commercial governance. Key Responsibilities * Design & Technical Delivery o Develop fire alarm and detection system designs based on client requirements and site surveys o Produce detailed design documentation including: + Detector layouts, PA/VA systems, and zone drawings + Cause & effect, loop schematics, panel layouts + Fire strategies and calculations o Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (e.g. BS5839, BS6266, BS7671, BS7273) o Value engineer solutions to balance cost-effectiveness with compliance and performance o Provide technical input into subcontract design packages and supplier orders * Project & Stakeholder Management o Lead or support site visits, surveys, and 3D model reviews o Act as a point of contact for subcontract designers o Review subcontractor designs, pricing, and specifications for accuracy and quality o Collaborate closely with internal teams to support tender submissions and project delivery o Manage design changes and ensure adherence to scope and change control processes * Quality & Compliance o Ensure all design processes and procedures are followed o Contribute to design management plans and design programmes o Support fire accreditation documentation o Assist with smooth handover to construction and commissioning teams About You * Proven experience in fire systems design, including detection, PA/VA, suppression, and fire stopping * Strong knowledge of system integration and fire equipment * Familiarity with BIM / PAS 1192 and navigating 3D models * Experience producing technical documentation (URS/FDS) * Knowledge of CDM regulations and temporary works * Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office * ONC / HNC / Degree or NVQ equivalent in a relevant discipline * Organised, proactive, and detail‑oriented * Strong communication and stakeholder management skills * Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment * Committed to delivering excellent customer service Benefits We put our people first and our benefits package reflects that by offering a comprehensive range of attractive options to help support your career on top of a competitive salary. * Generous holiday entitlement, increasing with years of service, plus the opportunity to purchase further holidays * A wide range of corporate discounts * Cycle to Work schemes * Comprehensive pension plan * Regular Save as You Earn share purchase scheme * Private medical scheme options are available for all salaried employees and our employee assistance programme also provides free 24/7 support to those who need it * Paid for yearly membership to one recognised professional association relevant to your role Additional Information Galliford Try welcomes applications from candidates who would like to work full-time, reduced hours or flexibly and this will be discussed in more detail as part of the recruitment process.
