Job description

Drumchapel Health Centre

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 6 0.8 wte Community Dietitian to join our friendly, forward thinking and enthusiastic team in the West Quadrant, based at Drumchapel Health Centre.

Typical caseload would include a mix of general clinics consisting of adult and paediatric patients, diabetes clinics and domiciliary visits to patients in their own homes and care homes, and patients on home enteral feeding.

This geographical area provides dietetic services for all ages, and across diverse socio-economic and cultural groups. The population includes significant levels of high deprivation, chronic ill health and areas of affluence. Skills of communication, negotiation and motivation are required.

The Community Dietetic Service supports B and C practice placements, clinical supervision, and is passionate about quality improvement: the role will include reviewing and improving service delivery by undertaking quality improvement projects. There are many cpd opportunities.

The post holder will be a source of professional advice, and appropriately influence multi-disciplinary, general practice and other healthcare teams and network to promote the delivery of a high level of clinically effective nutritional care.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Candidates will only be considered if they have a full UK Driving Licence.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

  • This role will be based at Drumchapel Health Centre
  • Part-time, Permanent
  • You will be working 4 days out of 7
  • Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver evidence based dietetic assessment, diagnosis and treatment to patients across a diverse community caseload
  • Plan, organise and deliver clinics, home visits and group education sessions for patients and carers
  • Work autonomously to prioritise workload and provide specialist nutritional advice for a range of clinical conditions including diabetes and nutrition support
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, primary care, and partner agencies to ensure effective patient care
  • Provide education, supervision and mentorship to student dietitians, support workers and other healthcare staff
  • Contribute to service development, audit, research and implementation of clinical guidelines and standards
  • Support health improvement initiatives and deliver culturally appropriate nutrition education within local communities

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • BSc in Human Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent and registration with the HCPC as a Dietitian
  • Significant post registration experience with evidence of continued professional development
  • Experience managing a clinical caseload independently within community or relevant healthcare settings
  • Strong clinical knowledge across a range of conditions and nutritional assessment techniques
  • Excellent communication, motivational and interpersonal skills with ability to influence and engage others
  • Experience of teaching, training or supporting colleagues and students in practice
  • Ability to organise workload effectively with strong time management and IT skills including MS Office
