Job description

Job Description

Do you want to design resilient, sustainable landscapes that blend technical rigour with creative vision? Are you motivated to collaborate across planning, ecology and engineering to deliver integrated design solutions? Do you thrive on varied projects—from detailed streetscapes to large-scale infrastructure and restoration?

We are seeking a talented Senior Landscape Architect to join our growing 17 strong team of landscape architects and landscape planners, ideally the job would be based in our Bristol office with flexible and hybrid working options available, though options to be located in Edinburgh or Birmingham would be considered for the right candidate.

As part of the job, you will be working on a variety of projects including landscape assessment and strategy, LVIA, green infrastructure strategies, concept design, master planning, detailed design, landscape management, visualisations and 3D modelling, working with a wider team of environmental and engineering specialists.

We have a variety of projects across the UK and internationally, ranging in scale from green infrastructure design and major transportation projects through to restoration, town centre regeneration, streetscape design and large-scale renewable energy and transmission projects.

Ramboll has a large in-house environmental team, and we work collaboratively with them to find effective, original design solutions. Ramboll places great weight on our ability to combine skills to find solutions for complex or unusual problems, develop long term relations with our clients and help our clients create sustainable and resilient places.

Your new role

You will be working in a collaborative and supportive environment where, as a Senior Landscape Architect, you will be expected to design and assess projects creatively, innovatively, and develop optimum outcomes for people, nature, and the environment.

As Senior Landscape Architect your key tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Leading and coordinating landscape team input to projects
  • Providing support to landscape team leadership
  • Desk-based analysis, research, data collection and interpretation
  • Site visits and technical photography
  • Preparation of written and graphic materials for design and assessment reports
  • Leading client and project team, and stakeholder events/meetings
  • Working collaboratively with the wider landscape team and mentoring junior staff
  • Ensuring delivery of high-quality and technically accurate work
  • Landscape input to fee proposals and tender submissions
  • Utilising and exploring digital tools for improved efficiency and quality

About you

The successful candidate will be a talented landscape architect with a good understanding of industry standards and professional practice, be diligent, proactive and and flexible. The ability to build good working relationships with colleagues, clients, and project teams is essential. By the nature of the role, the candidate will need to be well organised, have good communication skills and excellent attention to detail. From the moment you join Ramboll, we will support your personal and professional development so that you grow with the company. For this role, we believe your starting point is:

  • Masters/Post-Graduate degree from a Landscape Institute accredited cours
  • Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute
  • Ability to work successfully and build relationships with colleagues and other consultants in the delivery of high quality and robust outputs
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English
  • Numerically competent
  • Well organised and able to prioritise and manage their own workload with minimal supervision
  • Ability to use a range of IT packages including Microsoft Office, GIS software, Adobe Creative Suite, Autodesk packages and/or Revit

Personal qualities that will help you succeed in this role include: design ability; an analytical approach and good report writing skills; an understanding of other environmental and engineering disciplines capabilities; an interest and flexibility to work on a wide range of projects at all stages; working as a key member of the national landscape and environment teams in the delivery of projects; and the ability to work dynamically, not only with your own team – but also with different teams or experts across Ramboll and external clients and consultant organisations.

What we can offer you

  • Commitment to your development
  • Leaders guided by our Leadership Principles
  • A culture that respects individuality and originality
  • Inspiration from colleagues, clients, and projects
  • The long-term thinking of a foundation-owned company
  • Flexible work environment
  • 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Matched pension contributions
  • Private medical cover and life assurance
  • Remote working policy
