Job description

Position: English Teacher Location: Northampton Contract: Full-Time Start Date: September Key Stages: KS3–KS5 English Teaching Role in a Secondary School A secondary school in Northampton is seeking to appoint an English Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a school that values strong academic standards, literacy development, and high-quality teaching across English Language and Literature. English is a core subject within the curriculum, with students developing skills in reading, writing, analysis, and spoken communication. About the Role You will teach English across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering lessons in both English Language and English Literature. Students will study a range of literary texts including prose, poetry, and drama, alongside non-fiction writing and analytical skills development. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English examinations, supporting them in building confidence with extended writing, interpretation, and exam technique. You will work collaboratively within the department to maintain high standards of teaching and assessment. Key Responsibilities Teach English across KS3, KS4, and KS5 Deliver lessons in English Language and Literature Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations Assess student work and provide detailed feedback Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records Contribute to departmental planning and curriculum development Promote literacy and reading across the school Support enrichment activities such as reading clubs, theatre trips, or writing workshops The School Environment This secondary school in Northampton provides a structured and supportive environment with high expectations for teaching, learning, and behaviour.
