About The Service

This is a new service in Worcestershire for 4 young men with Autism.

Most of the support provided will be on a 1:1 basis.

There will be behaviours that challenge so previous experience in PBS would be advantageous.

Knowledge of Autism would be a huge benefit.

Support Workers will need to be energetic, motivated and outcome focused.

The building will need to be secured. People will not be able to leave without support due to significant vulnerability in the community.

The people supported are non-verbal so we need people with good communication skills ability to sign would be a benefit.

These young people need to use up their physical energy, so we need staff who are going to be active like walking, swimming, trampolining.

They will have limited independence skills so a desire to support people to become more independent is essential.

There will be a lot of personal care involved.

The young people have quite complex health needs. One person is PEG fed so training for this will need to be provided.

Diet is really important; we need staff who will carefully follow SALT guidelines.

Aside from college, this will be the first time that these individuals have lived away from home so staff will need good, sensitive connections with families.

There will be some behaviours that challenge so support workers will need to be observant, calm in a crisis and resilient.

This will be the first time that these young men have lived away from home so good relationships with families is essential.

This is an exciting opportunity to watch the 4 young men progress and build their independent living skills.
