Role Overview
This role is a key figure in the investment team responsible for managing and constructing investment portfolios and contributing to sector research.
In this role you’ll be ‘Certified’ under the Financial Conduct Authority Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR). This means that we’ll need to complete some regulatory background checks on you before you take up your role and we’ll need to ask you some questions on an annual basis to make sure you remain ‘fit and proper’ and competent to carry out your role. We’ll provide training on what holding a SMCR role means when you join us and annually thereafter.
Role Responsibilities
- Construct, implement and monitor client’s portfolio ensuring that the investment falls in line with company policy, BITA risk tolerance, asset allocation recommendation and tolerances
- To act as point of contact for advisers regarding existing and new client queries
- To attend when required the review meetings for clients presenting the client portfolio and its performance.
- Select appropriate investment solutions by the review of current product sets and house research, to build tailored and where appropriate scalable solutions for clients
- To collate and maintain investment commentary for distribution to advisers
- Ensure that appropriate due diligence has been undertaken on proposals and management of portfolios to reflect the clients investment profile
- Ensure leads are managed and tracked to provide realistic MI data
- Work with introducers and BM team to ensure client issues are raised and addressed
- Gather market intelligence and client insights and work closely with the appropriate product specialists to design new product to benefit client portfolios
- Maintain close relationships with segment leaders, investment platforms and product specialists to ensure any client insights or market intelligence can be fed back for potential product development or service opportunities
- Grow and enhance the reputation of Brooks Macdonald within the Region
- Support the team in reaching overall budget and individual team and company targets
- Perform role always ensuring adherence to the expected behaviours stated in the FCA Conduct Rules
Knowledge, Skill, and Experience
- Relevant experience in investments
- A thorough understanding of likely investment propositions for private clients
- A good understanding of investment strategy and asset allocation
- A sound understanding of the regulatory requirements around investments
- In-depth knowledge in all aspects of portfolio construction including risk and attribution management
- In-depth broad investment product knowledge
- Ability to understand and assimilate complex investment information
- Ability to engage diverse clients, fund managers and product providers to drive the effort in winning business
