Position: Product Certification Auditor

Location: Field Based - Scotland (near major cities/network routes e.g. Edinburgh or Glasgow)

Salary: Competitive basic salary based on experience plus Company Car & Discretionary Annual Bonus

Join a Global Leader in Product Certification – Celebrating 125 Years of Excellence

As BSI celebrates 125 years of shaping standards, inspiring trust, and helping organizations perform better, there has never been a more exciting time to join our team.

From developing the world’s first standards to becoming a globally recognised certification and assessment body, BSI has spent more than a century helping organisations achieve excellence, improve safety, and build trust in the products and services we deliver.

We are now looking for a Product Certification Auditor to play a key role in maintaining product excellence across our certification schemes. In this role, you will conduct product certification assessments across varied environments, ensuring compliance with BSI’s rigorous certification schemes and Kitemark standards.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the most respected global organisations during a milestone year in our history, working with leading manufacturers and helping shape the future of product compliance and certification.

We’re seeking professionals to deliver product assessment audits across our Glass, Fenestration, Structural Steel (EN 1090), Concrete, Aggregates and/or Construction Products Regulations (CPR) related schemes. Suitable candidates could either be experienced auditors, or those with relative exposure to quality control, quality assurance or standards compliance across any of these manufacturing areas.

*This is a field based role that requires extensive travel and potential overnight stays whilst conducting audits at our client's site across Scotland & potentially other parts of the UK.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Prepare assessment reports and deliver findings to clients to ensure client understanding of the assessment decision and clear direction to particular items of corrective action where appropriate
  • Recommend the issue, re-issue or withdrawal of certificates, and report recommendations in accordance with BSI policy, procedures and prescribed time frame.
  • Maintain overall account responsibility and accountability for nominated accounts to ensure an effective partnership, whilst ensuring excellent service delivery and account growth.
  • Lead assessment teams as required ensuring that team members are adequately briefed so that quality of service is maintained and that effective working relationships are sustained both with Clients and within the team.
  • Provide accurate and prompt information to support services, working closely with them to ensure that client records are up to date and complete and that all other internal information requirements are met.
  • Coach colleagues as appropriate especially where those members are inexperienced assessors or unfamiliar with clients' business/technology and assist in the induction and coaching of new colleagues as requested
  • Plan/schedule workloads to make best use of own time and maximise revenue-earning activity.
  • Must be willing to go through extensive onboarding plan in order to reach Lead Assessor status through the prescribed program (based on the knowledge, skills and experience they have as well as the requirements of the appropriate schemes)
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills, to include preparation for and taking standardized assessments related to knowledge and application of audit practices
  • Responsible for managing a portfolio of assigned clients based on location and a match of qualifications and client contract requirements
  • Responsible for contacting clients and scheduling the visits, planning the assessments, making travel plans, conducting the assessments and reporting and managing the results in an efficient manner.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 years’ industry experience gained within a product manufacturing environment and with an emphasis on quality management or product certification
  • Ideally qualified within an engineering or manufacturing related subject
  • Previous experience in product assessment or auditing, against standards
  • Can travel frequently across the UK and occasionally within Europe.
  • Knowledge of quality management system auditing practices (ISO 9001)
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor qualification would be advantageous but not essential - we provide structured training pathways to get you qualified

What we offer:

In addition to your ongoing training and development, we also offer:

  • Generous annual leave allowance of 27 days (on top of bank holidays), with options to buy/sell additional annual leave days

  • Company car: a selection of car type to suit your needs, with vehicle tax, MOT and insurance all paid for

  • Company paid private medical insurance

  • Excellent company-contributed pension scheme

  • Volunteer day to give back to the community

  • Rewards programme with access to discounts and cashback

  • Life assurance at 4x base salary
plus… a wide range of other flexible benefits that you can tailor to suit your lifestyle.
