Job description
A forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in Reading is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join its successful English department. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher who is committed to delivering engaging lessons, inspiring a love of literature and language, and supporting students to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will join a supportive and collaborative teaching team within a school that values high academic standards, creativity and positive student outcomes. Applications are welcomed from both experienced teachers and ECTs. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging English Language and Literature lessons across KS3 and KS4. Differentiate lessons effectively to meet the needs of all learners. Assess, monitor and support student progress in line with school policies. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes excellent behaviour for learning. Contribute to curriculum planning, enrichment activities and departmental development. Provide pastoral support and build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues. Prepare students confidently for GCSE examinations and coursework requirements. Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote student wellbeing at all times. The Ideal Candidate Will Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature. Excellent classroom management and communication skills. A passion for teaching and inspiring young people. The ability to work collaboratively within a successful department. High expectations for student achievement and behaviour. A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
