Job description

Attendance Officer - Independent Secondary School - Chelmsford Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale Attendance Officer An Independent Secondary School in Chelmsford is seeking a dedicated and organised Attendance Officer to join their pastoral support team. This is a key role within the school focused on improving student attendance, supporting student wellbeing and ensuring accurate attendance systems are maintained effectively. The successful candidate will monitor daily attendance, follow up absences and work closely with students, parents and pastoral staff to improve attendance and punctuality. You will analyse attendance data, identify patterns and support intervention strategies to ensure students remain engaged with school life and learning. You will also liaise with safeguarding teams and external agencies where appropriate, ensuring all attendance procedures are compliant with school policies and statutory requirements. Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with families are essential. The role requires excellent organisation, resilience and the ability to manage sensitive information professionally and confidentially. The school is looking for someone proactive who is committed to supporting students and contributing positively to the wider school community.
