Job description
An Project Manager is needed to join GT Wings, an ambitious engineering led CleanTech and MarineTech company developing AirWing, an innovative wind propulsion system helping commercial shipping cut fuel use and emissions. As Project Manager, you will work closely with the COO and the wider team to help drive projects from concept through to installation and operation. This is not about producing reports from a distance. It is about taking discussions, turning them into clear actions and making sure things get done. GT Wings is entering an exciting new phase. With its first full scale system operating and early commercial projects underway, the business is moving from development into deployment. That means working with subcontract manufacturers, shipyards and vessel operators to deliver complex engineering projects in the real world. It is practical, fast paced and full of moving parts. Based in Southampton with hybrid working available, this is a hands on role in a fast moving start up where you will help turn cutting edge engineering into real world installations at sea. You will coordinate engineers, suppliers and shipyards, build simple and workable project plans, track progress, identify risks early and keep momentum across multiple workstreams. You will support engineering development, manufacturing builds, grant funded projects and live customer installations. As the company grows, you will also help introduce simple tools and structure that improve visibility and speed. Key requirements. You should be an Associate Project Manager, Project Coordinator, Project Manager, Project Engineer or similar with a CV that demonstrates: A degree or technical qualification in engineering, marine, manufacturing or a related field Commercial experience in a project, engineering or manufacturing environment Strong organisational skills and structured thinking Confidence coordinating engineers, suppliers and external partners The ability to turn complex discussions into clear, actionable task lists A proactive, hands on approach and willingness to take ownership Clear written and verbal communication skills Marine, shipbuilding or offshore experience is helpful but not essential. Experience in a start up or fast growth business would also be advantageous. You must also be based in or near Southampton and comfortable being in the office two to three days per week. In return, you will gain exposure across engineering, manufacturing, procurement and vessel deployment within one of the UK's most exciting clean shipping businesses. Expect a salary of £35 to 50k (depending on experience), excellent benefits, hybrid working, real responsibility from day one and a clear pathway into senior project, programme or operations roles as GT Wings scales.
