Job description
A professional and welcoming School Receptionist is required for an immediate start at a prestigious independent school in Slough. This is a temporary position, perfect for a highly organized individual who thrives in a front-of-house role and can maintain a polished, composed presence in a busy academic environment. As the first point of contact for parents, visitors, and pupils, the Receptionist plays a vital role in upholding the school’s high standards of service and hospitality. The Role Front of House: Greeting all visitors, parents, and prospective families with warmth and professionalism, ensuring a high-standard first impression. Communication Management: Handling a busy switchboard, directing calls efficiently, and managing the main school email account with precision. Pupil & Parent Liaison: Assisting with pupil enquiries, managing late arrivals/early departures, and relaying important messages to teaching staff. Administrative Support: Providing ad-hoc clerical support to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Admissions department, including data entry and filing. Safeguarding & Security: Managing the visitor sign-in system, verifying identification, and ensuring all guests are aware of the school’s safeguarding protocols. Logistics: Coordinating the distribution of incoming mail and deliveries across the school estate. The Ideal Candidate Will Have Prior Experience: Previous experience in a reception or administrative role, preferably within a school or high-end corporate environment. Systems Knowledge: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with school management systems (e.g., SIMS, iSAMS, or Bromcom) is highly advantageous. Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written English, with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders. Professionalism: A resilient, proactive, and "can-do" attitude, with the ability to remain calm under pressure. Organisational Mastery: The ability to multitask in a high-energy environment while maintaining absolute attention to detail. Safeguarding Awareness: A commitment to the welfare of children and a clear understanding of school security procedures.
