Our team is looking to bring on passionate educators to support our growing student base through part-time teaching roles. This position offers the opportunity to teach bright, motivated students from around the world while maintaining flexibility in your schedule. You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality, personalized learning experiences as we continue to expand our reach globally.

Role Overview

We are seeking an outstanding and creative Teacher of French to join our Greenwich campus as Subject Lead. This is a fully remote teaching role delivering live, synchronous lessons to small classes (maximum 15 students) across French

As Subject Lead, you will shape the vision for visual arts at CGA, drive curriculum design, and oversee the consistency, quality, and ambition of teaching across the subject. You will combine excellent classroom practice with strategic leadership, championing creativity in a fully online environment.

Working Pattern

  • Teaching load: up to 22 periods per week

  • Lesson length: 45 to 55 minutes

  • Typical working hours: 7:00 to 15:00 (UK time)

  • Most lessons scheduled between 7:00 and 14:00 (UK time)

  • Some teaching may occur earlier for staff based outside of the UK depending on student demand (currently from 2:00 UK time onwards for staff in Asia)

We welcome applications from candidates based in Europe, the Middle East, or Asia, particularly those able to support earlier UK teaching hours.

Teaching and Learning

  • Plan and deliver engaging live online lessons in French that are well-structured, sequenced, interactive, and adapted to learner needs

  • Develop students' competence across the four skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing

  • Use evidence-informed strategies such as retrieval practice, modelling, choral repetition, and guided practice to build fluency and accuracy

  • Embed cultural understanding of the Francophone world throughout the curriculum

  • Ensure all students actively participate, with frequent speaking practice and visible thinking during lessons

  • Set purposeful homework that reinforces vocabulary, grammar, and communicative skills

  • Provide timely, clear, and actionable feedback on both written and spoken work

Curriculum Delivery and Subject Leadership

  • Lead the French subject area, setting the strategic direction for modern languages at CGA

  • Teach across Key Stage 3 and iGCSE French

  • Deliver curriculum aligned with Pearson Edexcel International GCSE French

  • Lead the design and rollout of International A Level French as the programme expands

  • Contribute to the development of in-house KS3 schemes of work

  • Ensure curriculum consistency, sequencing, and high standards across the department

  • Stay current with awarding body specifications and exam guidance

Assessment and Progress

  • Use a range of formative and summative assessment strategies, including speaking assessments and writing tasks

  • Track and monitor student progress against benchmarks

  • Identify students requiring support or stretch and adapt teaching accordingly

  • Contribute to internal assessments, mock examinations, and reporting cycles

Online Teaching Practice

  • Deliver high-quality lessons in a fully remote, synchronous environment

  • Use core platforms effectively, including Zoom, Canvas, and Teams

  • Maximise speaking time and interaction through breakout rooms, polls, and other online tools

  • Maintain well-organised online course materials and resources

Essential

  • Qualified teacher status (or equivalent)

  • Minimum 2 years' teaching experience

  • Native or near-native proficiency in French

  • Experience teaching French at KS3 and GCSE (or international equivalents)

  • Strong subject knowledge across grammar, vocabulary, and cultural content

  • Ability to plan and deliver high-quality lessons

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • Confidence using digital tools for teaching and learning

  • Ability to engage and motivate students in an online environment

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A Level or International A Level French

  • Experience teaching Pearson Edexcel or International Edexcel specifications

  • Prior subject leadership or curriculum design experience

  • Experience in online or blended learning environments

  • Experience teaching internationally diverse cohorts

  • Familiarity with Canvas, Zoom, or Teams

  • Ability to teach an additional subject
