Associate – Infrastructure, Projects & Energy (1+ PQE) | Leeds Purpose of the Role As part of an ongoing growth strategy, a leading national law firm is seeking an Associate to join its Leeds-based Infrastructure, Projects & Energy team. The successful candidate will help service a growing roster of major clients across infrastructure, energy and utilities, transport, health, local authorities and central government. The Team The team has undergone significant transformation and investment in recent years, growing alongside an expanding international network. It is recognised as pre-eminent in its field and acts for a broad range of clients including utilities providers, integrated energy companies, developers, funds, private equity houses and financial institutions — both institutional names and regional and national organisations. The team offers a fantastic variety of work. Alongside high-value, high-pressure transactions, there is a whole range of smaller matters, providing an excellent environment for mid-level associates to develop in a supportive setting. There is real opportunity to specialise, or gain broad experience across many different areas. The firm is recognised for its imaginative and impactful approach, combining legal expertise with strategic consulting, legal technology, flexible resourcing and efficient project management. What to Expect in the Role You will advise on a diverse range of matters, reflecting the breadth and depth of the practice, including: Transport — advising on the procurement of new rolling stock, rolling stock modification projects, light and heavy rail franchising, in-life management, transfer schemes and franchise mobilisation, as well as a variety of general commercial and operational contracts across the wider transport sector. Energy — advising energy and renewables clients on project development, M&A, regulated energy and public procurement. Renewables and alternative energy are front and centre of the practice. Social infrastructure — advising on projects and matters related to public assets and services that support communities, including schools, hospitals and roads. The team has a strong tradition in PFI and PPP work across both public and private sector clients. The role offers outstanding career prospects within an expanding, dynamic and sociable team.
