In this role, you will inspire students to explore the complex relationship between human activity and the natural world, utilising the unique geography of the East Midlands—from the urban regeneration of Derby to the rugged landscapes of the nearby Peak District. The Department & Academic Standard You will join a high-performing Humanities faculty where Geography is a premier subject, attracting high student numbers at both GCSE and A-Level. Core Responsibilities Exemplary Instruction: Delivering high-challenge Geography lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with significant opportunities for A-Level instruction for suitably qualified candidates. Physical Geography Mastery: Teaching the mechanics of the natural world, including tectonic hazards, glaciated landscapes, and the intricacies of the hydrological cycle. Human Geography Insight: Guiding students through global patterns of development, the challenges of megacities, and the complexities of international trade and migration. Fieldwork Leadership: Designing and leading rigorous local and national fieldwork expeditions, ensuring students can apply theoretical models to real-world environments. The Successful Candidate We are looking for a subject authority who can translate global challenges into fascinating classroom insights. Requirements include: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong honours degree in Geography or a related Environmental Science discipline. Proven Track Record: Evidence of delivering exceptional learning outcomes at GCSE and A-Level, with a deep understanding of AQA or Edexcel specifications. Analytical Rigor: The ability to support students in mastering both the descriptive and the statistical components of the Geography curriculum.
