Job description
Position: Design and Technology Teacher Location: Northampton Contract: Full-Time Start Date: September Key Stages: KS3–KS5 Design and Technology Teaching Role in a Grammar School A grammar school in Northampton is seeking to appoint a Design and Technology Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a selective school that values creativity, innovation, and academic excellence. Design and Technology is a well-supported subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop technical understanding, problem-solving ability, and practical design skills through a broad curriculum. About the Role You will teach Design and Technology across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering lessons that may include product design, resistant materials, engineering principles, and practical workshop activities. Students will develop both design thinking and practical manufacturing skills, supported by specialist workshop facilities and modern equipment. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Design and Technology examinations, supporting coursework development and practical assessment work. You will work collaboratively within the department to maintain high standards of teaching and assessment. Key Responsibilities Teach Design and Technology across KS3, KS4, and KS5 Deliver practical and theory-based lessons Support students in developing design and manufacturing skills Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Design and Technology assessments Maintain workshop equipment and ensure safe working practices Assess student work and provide structured feedback Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records Contribute to departmental planning and curriculum development The School Environment This grammar school in Northampton provides a structured and academically focused environment where students are highly motivated and engaged in their learning.
