The Department & Scientific Culture You will join a prestigious Science faculty where Physics is a high-attaining and popular subject at both GCSE and A-Level. The academy features industry-standard laboratories and specialized physics equipment (including advanced sensors and signal generators), supported by a dedicated team of specialist technicians. As an "Outstanding" setting, we prioritise a "mathematically-led" approach to Physics, ensuring students can confidently apply complex formulae to real-world phenomena. Core Responsibilities Exemplary Instruction: Delivering high-challenge Physics lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE Triple and Combined Science), with significant opportunities for A-Level Physics instruction. Practical Mastery: Leading sophisticated laboratory investigations—from investigating circuit components to determining the gravitational field strength—ensuring students develop precise technical and analytical skills. Conceptual Clarity: Demystifying abstract and complex theories, including wave-particle duality, nuclear fission and fusion, and the intricacies of Newtonian mechanics. The Successful Candidate We are looking for a subject authority who views Physics as the key to solving the world’s most pressing technological challenges. Requirements include: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong honours degree in Physics, Astrophysics, or a related Engineering discipline. Proven Track Record: Evidence of delivering exceptional learning outcomes at GCSE and A-Level, with a deep understanding of AQA or OCR assessment objectives.
