Job description

Role Summary

Help shape breast oncology in the Royal Devon and University Hospital

Are you an experienced nurse or allied health professional with a passion for holistic, patient centred care? The oncology service is seeking non-medical consultants to join our senior clinical leadership team.

In this pivotal role, you’ll have the autonomy to lead service development across oncology non-medical work force, influence strategic decisions, and deliver exceptional care to patients and families – making a lasting impact very day. You’ll work alongside breast oncologists, with access to advanced learning and development opportunities.

Your expertise will help us deliver our vision for developing non-medical workforce to support the growing demand for oncology care.

To work as a non-medical consultant using advanced clinical reasoning and diagnostic skills, prescribing, planning and evaluating interventions for patients with breast cancer

The role can be development band 8B or 8C demonstrating the requirements of a nonmedical consultant role.

Please note there will be an expectation this role will support both hospital sites, the Trust is also in the process of reviewing the non-medical consultant workforce therefore the JD will be updated

Working in close collaboration with the site specific Consultant(s) in Oncology, for Eastern Services, the post holder will provide strategic direction and leadership to facilitate the development of a co-ordinated service for patients with breast cancer, linking with acute oncology and supportive and palliative care. This will involve working across professional and organisational boundaries, in partnership and in collaboration with others including, Acute and Primary Care Clinicians, Specialist Nurses, local hospice teams, individuals, carers, Higher Education Institutions, Voluntary, Independent and Third Sector Organisations.

The role will also include responsibility to provide clinical and strategic leadership as a senior member of the specialty team regarding non-medical prescribing oncology clinics.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting breast oncology services within the Trust’s financial, workforce and operational targets, alongside ensuring the implementation of the Trust’s strategic objectives.
