Job description

Looking for a role where you can make a difference and really shine? Our fabulous #TeamWestDunCS in Dumbarton and Balloch are on the lookout for caring and motivated colleagues to them as Support Practitioners on a permanent part-time (up to 30 hours per week) basis.

The Role and The People We Support

You'll become part of one of our fun, friendly and dedicated teams who provide support individuals with various support needs within their own homes. There's never a dull moment, every day is different!

As a Support Practitioner, you'll support and assist the people we support with all aspects of daily living, including cooking and preparing meals, personal care, administering medication and managing personal finances.

One of the ladies we support enjoys nothing more than going to the theatre to see the latest show, doing arts and crafts and going being an active part of her social clubs. When not out and about, she loves watching Mrs Brown's Boys to unwind.

With your guidance and support, you'll help the people we support to maintain their own homes and be an active member of their local community.

About You

You don't need previous experience in care as a Support Worker or qualifications to start your career with us, we recruit on values and transferable skills. We'll pay you for your training and give you all the skills you'll need. We'll even fund your SVQ (SCQF level 6/7) and SSSC yearly registration fees too!

What we'll need you to bring;

  • Good communication skills
  • A caring attitude
  • A positive approach to learning
  • An understanding of the importance of routines and following guidelines
  • Confidence in the use of computers

For this role, it would be beneficial if you had a full manual UK drivers licence with a years experience on the roads but this isn't a deal breaker. As the people we support enjoy going swimming, being confident in the water would be beneficial but again not a deal breaker.

Shift Patterns

We offer support 7 days a week each day of the year, usually between 8am-6pm, although there are a few earlier/later supports per the needs of the individuals. You may work with more than one individual in a day.

What makes Cornerstone a great place to work

Along with hosting our annual Star Awards to celebrate and recognise the impact and dedication of our colleagues and the achievements of the people we support, there's some other great perks that'll you receive when you join our team: -

  • You'll have a meaningful job doing things that you enjoy - it often doesn't feel like work
  • Your job actually changes and improves lives - you'll make a difference in your local community
  • We have a culture of empowering our colleagues and teamwork
  • No uniform - we wear our own casual clothes
  • We fund up to £ towards driving lessons
  • We reimburse your yearly SSSC registration fees
  • Access to funded qualifications through our SQA approved, award winning Training Academy
  • Ongoing continued professional development and career progression opportunities
  • Recommend a colleague bonus scheme
  • Long service awards
  • Access to a 24/7 independent employee assistance helpline
  • 26 days annual leave (rising by 5 days after 5 years) plus 4 paid bank holidays
  • Family friendly leave options, including family, parental, bereavement and special leave
  • Access to lots of discounts, including the cinema, gym memberships, holidays and shopping to name a few
