The Role – Raising Attainment & Changing Futures
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Support vulnerable students on a 1:1 and small-group basis
- Help improve attendance, engagement, emotional regulation, and academic attainment
- Build strong professional relationships with pupils who may be hard to reach or distrustful of authority
- Support young people through structured interventions focused on behaviour, wellbeing, and aspiration
- Encourage participation in cooking, sport, creative arts, and enrichment activities that build confidence and life skills
- Help students develop healthier coping strategies, resilience, and positive routines
- Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, safeguarding leads, therapists, and external agencies
- Observe and learn behaviour management, de-escalation, restorative practice, and safeguarding strategies used within specialist education settings
