Job description
Empowering projects in a complex world. Are you ready to take up a vital role in shaping some of our exciting projects? How about joining our talented team, where everyone has a voice, and together we face our clients' problems head-on. It’s a diverse and inclusive work environment where world‑class talent knows no distinctions. We know that different people have different priorities, which is why we’re here to support you. Flexible and remote working is a central part of our culture. So, talk to us about what’s ideal for you – from reduced weeks to buying more leave over school holidays. And if you’re returning from a career break, ask us how we can help you transition back into work with us. AtkinsRéalis Geomatics use advanced technology to transform the raw survey data gathered from site into powerful decision‑making tools. We offer a comprehensive range of survey and mapping services, from small scale ground‑based survey to wide‑area aerial 3D mapping. Since 2015 this has included a UAV survey capability. Our team works closely with clients to identify a data collection method that meets their project and cost requirements, and to deliver the insight they need; whether that be to inform the design of a new development, optimize the route of new infrastructure or update existing building or site records for asset management purposes. The role of UAV Survey Lead is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to take the technical lead of that part of our capability. This involves planning and coordinating UAV surveys and overseeing the processing of the deliverables. They will also lead business development and estimating for future opportunities. They will lead on continuing to develop the capability to ensure we remain at the forefront of UAV Survey in terms of the tools we use and the data we deliver, ensuring interoperability with a variety of user software platforms. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing and developing UAV Survey. They will be based out of one of the following offices: Bristol, London & Southeast or Birmingham, and will need to be prepared to travel with the potential for short stays away. Your role * Coordinating UAV surveys. * Direction and development of the capability. * Business development and costing/bidding for opportunities. * Liaise with clients during production and delivery of work packages. * Coordinating technical development and continuous improvement of working procedures. * Coordinate and contribute to the wider Geomatics team, often working with them where other survey techniques are also required. * Represent the business professionally to new and existing clients. About you * Have achieved a degree or further education qualification in a field related to geospatial, geomatics, aerial surveying, remote sensing or photogrammetry. * Have a proven track record in managing and developing UAV Survey. * Have experience of carrying out and managing UAV projects, primarily for geospatial surveys. * In‑depth technical knowledge of the principles of aerial surveying, including photogrammetry and LiDAR. * Show an understanding of survey principles and accuracies, primarily GNSS RTK/PPK. * Have extensive experience of aerial survey data processing workflows, and the production of derived survey deliverables such as DTM, orthophoto, topographic mapping. * Attention to detail and experience managing projects with large amounts of data. * Have excellent communication and presentation skills, be confident in dealing with clients and senior management on a daily basis, and be able to communicate effectively and respectfully with overseas office staff. * Be willing to travel throughout the UK to both carry out site work and promote the UAV Survey capability to both our internal and external markets. * Must be fully self‑motivated and able to work to tight and personally set deadlines independently and as part of a team. Flexible and able to solve problems and develop alternative methods as appropriate without supervision. Security clearance This role may require security clearance, and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer. If applying to this role please do not make reference to (in conversation) or include in your application or CV, details of any current or previously held security clearance. Equal Opportunities We are committed to creating a culture where everyone feels that they belong – a place where we can all be ourselves, thrive and develop to be the best we can be. We offer a range of family‑friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements and employee resource groups to support all employees. As an Equal Opportunities Employer, we value applications from all backgrounds, cultures and abilities. #J-18808-Ljbffr
