Position type: Full Time: 40hrs (7.30am - 4.30pm Monday - Thursday, 7.30am - 1.30pm Friday) Location: On site in Kilmarnock at Caledonia Works and Bonnyton Depot Description About Us Brodie Engineering is an established leading rolling stock engineering business offering a comprehensive range of refurbishment, maintenance, overhaul, engineering support, project management, and repair services to the UK rail and light rail sector. The business has experienced substantial growth and has established a strong reputation within the rail industry for its high-quality delivery. Operating from two depots in Kilmarnock, Scotland we also provide a mobile service to the rail industry over the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland. Key clients include ScotRail, Northern Rail and Caledonian Sleeper. Overview We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background, with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain various systems, plant and vehicles within our facilities. This role requires a proactive approach to ensuring all equipment operates efficiently, contributing to the overall productivity of the organisation. * Specifically the role will support the repair and maintenance of Compressed air systems, Forklifts, MEWP, Vans, Roller Doors, Train Vehicle Lifting Jacks and Fixed Plant – Guillotines, Woodwork machinery This is a ‘hands on’ role, the job holder will be responsible carrying out fault finding and preventative maintenance on buildings, plant, and equipment. Duties * Conduct regular maintenance checks on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance. * Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues as they arise. * Read and interpret schematics to understand system layouts and components. * Supervise maintenance staff, providing guidance and leadership in daily tasks. * Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs performed. * Collaborate with other departments to address maintenance needs and improve processes. * Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to maintenance requests from staff. Key skills and experience * Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose issues effectively. * Background in plant maintenance is desirable. * Ability to complete remedial repair work in line with statutory and legal requirements. * Adept at problem solving and flexible in their approach to work. * Proficiency in electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, and troubleshooting techniques. * Familiarity with reading schematics and technical drawings. * Excellent customer service skills, ensuring a positive experience for all internal stakeholders. * Able to work to tight deadlines. * A time served apprentice trained with industrial experience (medium to heavy industrial plant and equipment) with formal qualifications (Level 3 City and Guilds, 18th Edition or equivalent) * Driving Licence (essential) * Experience and training for working at height (essential) * MEWPS licence (essential) As well as a highly competitive salary you will also benefit from our comprehensive benefits package which includes Employee Assistance Programme, Private medical insurance, Contributory pension scheme, Health Shield scheme, and other employee benefits. #J-18808-Ljbffr
