Job overview

Beech Ward at Scarborough Hospital is looking for a compassionate, motivated Band 4 Nursing Associate to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care to cardio-respiratory patients.

As a Nursing Associate, you’ll work closely with Registered Nurses and the wider clinical team to ensure safe, effective, and dignified care. You’ll be part of a supportive environment where your professional development is valued and encouraged.

Main duties of the job

  • Providing high‑quality, evidence‑based care to patients requiring enhanced levels of support.
  • Carrying out a range of clinical duties within your scope of practice, including observations, basic assessments, and supporting care plans.
  • Contributing to a safe and therapeutic environment for patients with complex physical or cognitive needs.
  • Working collaboratively with Registered Nurses, HCSWs, AHPs, and medical staff.
  • Supporting patients and families with clear communication, empathy, and professionalism.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and contributing to multidisciplinary discussions.
  • Upholding Trust values and promoting a culture of safety, respect, and continuous improvement.

Essential criteria

  • Foundation Degree achieved through recognised Nursing Associate training programme.

Desirable criteria

  • Advanced IT skills e.g. spreadsheets, PowerPoint or ECDL qualification (willing to undertake further training.

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Understand the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the team worked in and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development`
  • Knowledge of when to seek advice and refer to a senior registered care professional
  • Understanding of how to apply evidence-based practice to ensure high quality care
