The role We are recruiting for a Specialist Paediatric Core MRI Radiographer at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow. This post provides an ideal opportunity to be involved in the clinical imaging of a full range of paediatric specialities including Neurology, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Cardiac and Foetal Medicine and Research studies. A proportion of the imaging is performed under General Anaesthesia so the post holder will work closely with multidisciplinary paediatric anaesthetic teams. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern * Location: Royal Hospital for Children * Permanent Contract * Full‑time position (36 hours per week) * Shift pattern: Sunday to Sunday, rostered 24/7 including public holidays Key responsibilities * Assess and understand a wide range of clinical information from a variety of clinical or specialist disciplines and perform examinations autonomously, making decisions about the need for further imaging to aid diagnosis, taking into account any pathology identified on the images. * Ensure that images acquired are accurate and diagnostic in accordance with best practice and in a manner that meets professional, departmental and legal standards / requirements, adapting technique where necessary to gain optimum imaging. * Act independently in the assessment of referrals for MRI examinations, taking full responsibility for the justification in accordance with Department protocols. * Maintain a safe working environment by working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board policies, adhering to relevant MRHA legislation and local rules and standard operating procedures. * Work as part of a team to ensure effective communication with patients, relatives, carers and other members of the multidisciplinary team, ensuring any observed changes in the patient’s condition are effectively communicated and prioritise workload depending on severity of a patient condition. * Act as a point of advice for radiology staff, imaging referrers and ward staff on radiographic issues, including clinical suitability for procedure and MR safety / compatibility. * Adapt imaging technique and utilise motivational and persuasive skills to acquire accurate positioning and reduced mobility for patients with injuries or illnesses. Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required * D.C.R. or BSc in Radiography * HCPC Registration * Evidence of postgraduate education or equivalent experience demonstrating specialist clinical skills, for example a postgraduate qualification in MRI. * Short courses such as venepuncture to enhance efficiency. * Evidence of ongoing educational and personal development. * Good communication skills. * Team worker.
