Job description
Floating Mental Health Support Worker - Driver with Car Driver with access to a car. Mileage will be paid. Hub Based with travel to the Care in Mind portfolio - Cheshire, covering Stockport, Bury and Bolton. Full Time 37.5 hours per week Main duties of the job Essential requirements of a Floating Mental Health Support Worker * Flexibility - Your role will involve working shifts including weekends and bank holidays * Full UK Driving Licence and access to a car * Must be able to attend training throughout employment which will be held on weekdays * Good written skills and the ability to write basic reports and record information accurately * Basic IT skills (Your role will involve some computer work, completing forms, using an online care system, and writing emails) * Good verbal communication skills and the ability to listen to others * An ability to maintain a professional working boundary * Ability to remain calm in emergencies, supporting others during difficult situations Desirable Criteria of a Floating Mental Health Support Worker * NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent in Care * Previous experience of working with young people who have mental health needs About us Care in Mind provide residential services for young people aged 16-30 years old. The young people we care for often require a high level of support to assist with difficulties they may have from self-harming, behaviour, and emotional difficulties. Our aim is to support the young people using a therapeutic approach to help them achieve their individual goals, in preparation for transition to adult life. Your role will involve working with our young people to promote independence through support with education, household tasks and general life skills. You will also update online care records and complete medication administration. In addition, you will be responsible for the general upkeep and tidiness of the home ensuring the young people live in homely environment. You will undertake a wide range of duties, which will involve direct and indirect care of young people who have complex mental health needs within the Care in Mind residential homes and various other settings e.g. college/leisure activities. You will conduct multiple interventions involving the delivery of care to young people and to promote their independence ensuring continuity of care in accordance with Care in Mind policies and procedures. The role of a floating support worker, is to work across the Care in Mind portfolio of services covering Cheshire, covering Stockport, Bury and Bolton. Therefore you must have a Full UK driving licence with access to a car. Previous care experience is desirable but full training will be provided. You will receive ongoing support and mentoring from our friendly residential and clinical team. Person Specification Qualifications Experience * Previous experience of working with young people who have mental health needs Skills * Able to work shifts within 24 hour/ 7 days per week rota (including some bank holidays) Must be able to carry out all shift expectations as outlined: Early shift- 7am-3.30pm Late shift 2pm-10pm Late sleep 2.30pm-11pm Occasional Waking night for emergency cover 8.30pm-7.30am * IT skills and the ability to write emails and use Microsoft office * An understanding of the issues young people face * Good written communication skills and the ability to write basic reports and record information accurately * To have a clean driving licence and access to a car Other * Good verbal communication skills and the ability to listen to others * Ability to work in a team * Ability to meet the day-to-day needs of young people, including providing practical support with daily living activities * Form and maintain professional working boundaries between staff and service users. * Ability to remain calm in emergencies, supporting others during demanding situations. * Be a confident driver with the ability to travel throughout the Northwest and Yorkshire. * Ability to work flexibly * Understanding of the issues around confidentiality * Understanding of safeguarding Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. £28,135.50 to £30,205.50 a year Per Annum Dependant on Experience #J-18808-Ljbffr
