Job description
Overview Raigmore Hospital’s Acute Adult ANP/ACP Service is recruiting Band 4 Assistant Practitioners (APs) to support both the medical and Advanced Practice workforce. The role involves providing clinical and administrative support across a range of specialties, including Hospital at Night, General Surgery, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Frailty Team, General & Acute Medicine, and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC). Responsibilities The post-holder will deliver a physically and emotionally demanding role that includes administrative support to medical and nursing staff, minor clinical procedures such as venepuncture, cannulation and catheterisation, assistance with medical procedures, and support for emergency and cardiac arrest teams. Work will span days, evenings, weekends, and out‑of‑hours as required. Essential Criteria * Relevant qualification in Healthcare at SCQF level 7‑8 or above (e.g., HNC/D or Level 8 PDA). * Minimum of three national qualifications, including a Standard Grade pass (or equivalent) in English and two other subjects. * Good communication skills with strong command of written and spoken English. * Recent acute hospital experience within the past two years, relating to the Assistant Practitioner role. * Evidence of completion of Mandatory Induction Standards or equivalent (if out with NHS Scotland). Trainee Route Applicants without a current SCQF Level 7‑8 qualification may be considered for a Trainee Assistant Practitioner post. Successful candidates will undertake a specified academic training programme to achieve the required qualifications, with potential redeployment upon failure to complete the programme. Benefits * Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours.
