Job description
Position: Food Technology Teacher Location: Northampton Contract: Full-Time Start Date: September Key Stages: KS3–KS4 Practical Teaching Role in a Modern Academy Setting An academy school in Northampton is seeking to appoint a Food Technology Teacher to join its Design and Technology department from September. This is a full-time role within a practical subject area that supports students in developing life skills alongside subject knowledge. Food Technology is a valued part of the curriculum, with lessons focused on nutrition, food preparation, and safe kitchen practices. About the Role You will teach Food Technology across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering lessons that combine theory and practical cooking sessions. Students will develop an understanding of nutrition, hygiene, and food preparation techniques while building confidence in a kitchen environment. You will also support students preparing for GCSE Food Technology assessments, ensuring they understand both the theoretical and practical components of the course. The role includes maintaining a safe and organised kitchen environment and ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed. Key Responsibilities Teach Food Technology across KS3 and KS4 Deliver practical cooking lessons and theory-based sessions Teach nutrition, food safety, and preparation techniques Prepare students for GCSE Food Technology assessments Maintain kitchen equipment and resources Ensure health and safety procedures are followed Monitor student progress and provide feedback Contribute to departmental planning and shared resources The School Environment This academy school in Northampton provides a structured and supportive environment with clear expectations for teaching and learning. The Design and Technology department includes specialist kitchen facilities designed for practical lessons. Staff work collaboratively to deliver consistent teaching, and students respond well to structured routines and hands-on learning opportunities. Candidate Requirements The school is seeking a teacher who can confidently deliver practical lessons and manage a safe working environment.
