Job description

Shape Futures Through Specialist Education

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed KS3 Teacher to join a specialist educational setting in Bridgwater on a full-time basis from September 2026.

This rewarding position would suit an educator who is passionate about supporting pupils who require tailored learning approaches and consistent emotional guidance within a highly supportive environment.

The provision caters for learners with a range of additional needs including autism, SEMH, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, trauma-related presentations and associated behavioural needs.

The setting prides itself on creating a nurturing atmosphere where pupils feel safe, respected and motivated to re-engage with education.

The Role

The successful applicant will deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to Key Stage 3 pupils, adapting teaching methods to suit varying academic abilities and communication styles.

You will encourage participation, support emotional development and help students build confidence within their learning journey.

• Planning creative and accessible lessons linked to individual learning targets
• Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and social interaction
• Encouraging engagement through practical and relationship-focused learning
• Collaborating with teaching assistants, therapists and external professionals
• Monitoring pupil progress and maintaining accurate records
• Promoting positive behaviour approaches and structured routines
• Building strong relationships with families and multidisciplinary teams

This role would suit somebody who thrives in smaller classroom environments and values making a direct difference to young people who may have struggled in mainstream education.

The Ideal Candidate

Applicants should demonstrate resilience, adaptability and a genuine passion for inclusive teaching. Previous experience within SEN, alternative provision or therapeutic settings would be advantageous.

• QTS, QTLS or equivalent teaching qualification
• Strong classroom management skills
• Experience differentiating learning for pupils with additional needs
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Confidence supporting pupils with SEMH and autism
• A calm, patient and proactive approach
