Job description
A well-resourced secondary school in Brighton is seeking an ambitious and experienced Head of Design & Technology to lead its successful DT department from September. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a passionate DT specialist who is keen to shape the direction of the subject within a school that values creativity, innovation, and practical learning. About the role The successful candidate will lead the Design & Technology department while teaching across the curriculum. You will oversee the delivery of an engaging DT programme and support the development of practical and technical skills across the school. The role will involve: Leading and developing the Design & Technology department Teaching DT across KS3 and KS4, with KS5 depending on specialism Driving high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment Supporting and mentoring members of the DT team Overseeing curriculum development and schemes of work Ensuring strong health and safety standards within workshops and practical areas Promoting enrichment opportunities such as design competitions and STEM projects You will play a key role in maintaining the department’s strong reputation and ensuring students continue to achieve excellent outcomes. The ideal candidate Qualified Teacher with QTS or equivalent Strong subject knowledge in Design & Technology Experience teaching DT across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable) Previous leadership experience or readiness to lead a department A proactive and collaborative leadership style Interested?
