Overview The Youth Justice Service (YJS) are looking for a YJS Worker to work within a multi‑disciplined environment to prevent the offending of children and young people. With an emphasis of working both in a voluntary and statutory way to prevent children and young people entering the criminal justice system or continuing to be convicted of new offences. Multi‑disciplinary Team The successful candidate will be part of the multi‑disciplinary YJS team which includes YJS Managers, Social Workers, Caseworkers, Victim Liaison Officer, Turnaround Early Help Worker, Trauma Informed Practitioner, CAMHS Worker and seconded Police & Probation Officers. Environment & Hybrid Working The role will involve hybrid working which requires the YJS Worker engaging with children/young people and their families in an office environment, in school and at home, and in other community settings. The successful applicant will have an office base at the Youth Justice Service offices at Moor Lane Youth Centre, in the West of the City. Engagement & Assessment There will be a requirement to engage children/young people and their families in order to gather information and complete written assessments which you will then analyse before preparing a targeted intervention plan. Support & Intervention The successful candidate will provide support to children/young people to enable them to build on their individual strengths and capabilities to develop their pro‑social identify for positive outcomes and sustainable desistance from negative behaviours. This post is suitable as a job share opportunity. Public‑Facing Competency As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language. Location & Working Arrangements Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
