About NHSGGC NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical professions and roles. The Role We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Health Visitor to become part of the HSCP Children & Families Health Visiting service. The post is a 21.6 hour Specialist Community Public Health Nurse/Health Visitor with a designated caseload in the surrounding areas. You will provide a high‑quality, culturally sensitive, safe person‑centred and effective health‑visiting service in the community, working with partner agencies. As an independent, autonomous practitioner you will have in‑depth knowledge, expertise, and experience in health visiting and the GIRFEC/National practice model Framework. You will be responsible for the ongoing management of your caseload, ensuring the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the universal health‑visiting pathway and additional programmes of care. Eligibility: Currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC, a post‑registration qualification in Health Visiting/Public Health Nursing, and a live NMC UK pin. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern * Location: North‑East HSCP Glasgow * Contract: Permanent * Part‑time position (30 hours per week) * Shift pattern: Within 3 days during Monday to Friday * Salary: Pro‑rated for part‑time hours Key Responsibilities * Undertake statutory duties for NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde for children within your caseload, assessing and supporting wellbeing. * Collaborate with all professionals involved with the child or young person to analyse, develop and agree a multi‑agency child plan, implementing and monitoring it to ensure needs are met. * Partner with families, other agencies and key stakeholders to ensure all responsibilities are fulfilled. * Provide key input in relation to Child Protection and vulnerable children, participating in regular supervision of child‑protection cases. * Make professional judgments on information sharing in accordance with GDPR, data protection, and human‑rights law. * Deliver the universal pathway to all children, conducting developmental and wellbeing assessments and making timely referrals. * Contribute to continuous quality improvement through audit, monitoring and corrective action plans. Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and Experience * Registered nurse or midwife at degree level or equivalent. * Post‑registration qualification in Health Visiting/Public Health Nursing and registration on Part 3 of the NMC register. * Master’s level education in a relevant nursing area, or equivalent knowledge from completed NES modules. * Significant understanding of legislation related to information sharing, data storage and public protection. * Knowledge of health and social care pathways related to safeguarding, early intervention and protection. * Experience of caseload management and planning to meet deadlines. * Use of a strengths‑based approach working in partnership with families. * Ability to use assessment tools for referral pathways. * Risk and concern management through critical thinking for effective decision‑making. * Professional advice within a multi‑agency setting prioritising children’s interests and safety. * Leadership in discussions, policy development and improvement implementation. * Commitment to ongoing professional development. From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part‑time hours will be reduced on a pro‑rated basis, with a corresponding increase in hourly rate to maintain overall pay.
