Job description

Position: SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) Location: Manchester Contract: Full-Time Start Date: September Leadership Role Supporting Inclusion and Student Progress A secondary school in Manchester is seeking to appoint a SENCo to lead and manage provision for students with special educational needs from September. This is a key leadership role within the school, focused on ensuring that all students receive appropriate support to access the curriculum and achieve positive outcomes. The school is committed to inclusive education and provides structured systems to support students with a range of additional needs. About the Role You will be responsible for overseeing the identification, assessment, and support of students with special educational needs. This includes managing individual education plans, coordinating interventions, and working closely with teaching staff to ensure appropriate classroom support. You will liaise with parents, external agencies, and senior leadership to ensure that provision is effective and aligned with statutory requirements. The role also involves monitoring the progress of students with additional needs and ensuring that support strategies are consistently implemented across the school. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage SEN provision across the school Identify and assess students with additional needs Develop and review individual education plans Coordinate targeted interventions and support strategies Work closely with teaching staff to support inclusive practice Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies Ensure compliance with SEN regulations and policies Monitor student progress and report to senior leadership The School Environment This secondary school in Manchester provides a structured and supportive environment with a strong focus on inclusion. Candidate Requirements The school is seeking an experienced and organised professional who can lead SEN provision effectively. Essential Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to work towards it) Experience working with students with special educational needs Strong understanding of SEN legislation and best practice Ability to lead and manage provision across the school Strong communication and organisational skills Desirable Previous experience in a SENCo role Experience working within a secondary school setting Experience liaising with external agencies and support services How to Apply If you are interested in this SENCo role in Manchester starting in September, please submit your CV.
