THE ROLE * Lead the quality team in this bespoke precision components manufacturing business. * Manage operational quality engineering activity within the production facility. * Represent the business while dealing with customer quality enquiries and warranty issues. * Work with customers to reduce defects and improve manufacturing processes. * Collaborate with customers and suppliers to manage source change and ensure conformity. * Review and improve processes to drive a ‘Right First Time’ culture and ‘On Time In Full’ delivery. * Focus on problem-solving and root cause analysis using recognised techniques such as 8D, 5Y, Ishikawa. * Deploy process improvements such as a roll out of PPAP and APQP on new products and on engineering change. * Proactively build relationships with key customers to maintain and improve quality performance. * Work collaboratively with the production/operations team to identify and implement process improvements. THE COMPANY This business is long established and has a close-knit team based at their Blackburn site. They have a long track record of supplying well-established customers in the aerospace industry such as Rolls Royce, BAE Systems and Airbus. THE PERSON * You will be an experienced Quality Manager with a background in the aerospace industry or another highly regulated industry that utilises core quality tools such as PPAP, APQP, FMEA. * With the focus on developing a ‘Right First Time’ culture, you will be used to working with Technical Drawings and have the ability to produce clear and user-friendly SOPs. * A knowledge of GD&T and metrology would be a clear advantage as you will be working to tight tolerances on all components. * As you will be the ‘face of quality’, you will be an excellent communicator and will be comfortable being the first point of contact with the customer. * Finally, you will be a positive communicator and will have the ability to engage equally well with the shop floor, senior management, and external customers and suppliers. * This is an onsite role so you would need to be commutable to Blackburn with legal right to work in the UK.
