Job description
Overview The Chiltern Hospital (Great Missenden) is part of Circle Health Group. This bank Theatre Practitioner – Recovery & Anaesthetics role is on a bank shift basis with pay up to £25 per hour, depending on experience, training and qualification. Applicants must be able to travel to the sister site – The Shelburne Hospital in High Wycombe – for dual‑site working. Duties * Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety. * Support the anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management and positioning; provide post‑operative care, monitor vital signs, manage pain and nausea, and ensure patient readiness for discharge. * Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures at all times. * Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and specific patient requirements. * Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and report faults immediately. * Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and efficient surgical lists. * Support and contribute to a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment. Qualifications and Experience * Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC). * Experience or training in a theatre environment in at least one area (scrub, anaesthetics or recovery). * Understanding of infection control, manual handling and patient safety principles. * Ability to work under pressure, problem‑solve and respond quickly to changes in a dynamic environment. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. * Attention to detail, accuracy and commitment to safe surgical practice. Salary & Benefits * Competitive hourly rate up to £25 per hour, depending on experience, training and qualification. * Bank role working on an "as and when required" basis, covering busy periods, annual leave and absence.
