Job description
The post holder will be responsible for the development and clinical oversight of Older People Mental Health Liaison (OPMH Liaison) across the Liaison Services at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Princess Royal University Hospital, providing senior clinical leadership to the team and ensuring that the services meet agreed objectives and deliver a high‑quality service in collaboration with Liaison Team Managers. The role includes clinical supervision of OPMH Liaison clinicians, enhancing the services across the sites, and, where agreed, operational management of staff. The post holder must be able to travel between sites and may base themselves at different locations throughout the working week. Key Responsibilities * Collaborate with senior colleagues to provide clinical leadership to the older people’s liaison team. * Support the day‑to‑day management of the multidisciplinary team. * Ensure effective communication is maintained. * Set and maintain standards of care. * Liaise with community and inpatient teams regarding gate‑keeping of patients and to offer alternatives to hospital admission or early discharge. * Be fully conversant with statutory and non‑statutory services in Greenwich, Bexley, Bromley and promote effective liaison and operational links as appropriate. * Actively participate in the development of Older People’s Mental Health Liaison Services. * Participate in service evaluation in conjunction with the Senior Management Team and Quality & Audit Departments. * Plan and facilitate induction programmes for members of a multidisciplinary team. * Provide direct clinical/management supervision, including assessment of staff professional responsibility and effectiveness. * Promote the Trust’s Equal Opportunities Policy and challenge discriminatory practices and behaviour. * Maintain high standards of professional integrity and respect for others in all dealings with service users, colleagues and other professionals. * Work within a high level of autonomy.
