The position operates as part of a global team, and occasional travel to Spain or other company locations may be required. Due to the sensitive nature of the role, successful candidates will need to be eligible for NSV SC clearance, which requires continuous UK residency for the past five years. What you’ll be doing In this role, you’ll play a key part in protecting our organisation, customers and critical services by supporting the UK CSIRT. Working within a global cyber security function, you’ll help deliver a wide range of security capabilities, including incident response, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, security monitoring, digital forensics and threat hunting. As a Security Operations Analyst, you will coordinate and execute cyber security incident response processes, working closely with colleagues across local and international teams. You’ll be involved in creating, testing and embedding new security processes and services, ensuring ScottishPower can quickly detect and respond to cyber threats while minimising business and customer impact. Day to day, you’ll monitor and analyse threat data, manage incidents from identification through to recovery and lessons learned, and ensure responses align with best-practice playbooks and industry standards. You’ll also support the wider Cyber Fusion Centre by helping define, build and maintain the tools and technologies used by the CSIRT, taking ownership of effective support models across the security toolset. Collaboration is central to the role, including working closely with IT and operational technology security teams to deliver an integrated IT/OT security strategy across the business. What you’ll bring This role would suit someone with experience in an IT security or technical environment and a solid understanding of areas such as network and data security, incident and problem management, access control and cryptography. A good grasp of cyber threat actors, attack methods and vectors is important, as is an understanding of core networking concepts, operating systems and security controls such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls and endpoint protection. Scripting knowledge in languages such as Python, Bash or PowerShell is advantageous, as are relevant industry certifications or a degree in cyber security. Strong stakeholder skills, discretion and integrity are essential, given the nature of the work and the audiences you’ll engage with. If you’re motivated by protecting critical infrastructure and want to help shape a safer digital future, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a forward-thinking cyber security team. What’s in it for youAs well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits.
