Job description

We are working with an established and highly respected specialist fit-out contractor based near to Amesbury who are looking to strengthen their team with an experienced Contracts Manager. With a long-standing reputation for delivering high-quality retail and commercial environments, this is an opportunity to join a business working on some genuinely impressive projects across the UK with a particularly strong presence in Central London. Projects typically range from £300,000 to £800,000, with the business also delivering larger schemes up to approximately £3 million. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys taking ownership of projects from pre-construction through to successful completion and who thrives in the fast-paced environment of retail fit-out. About Our Client Our client is a specialist fit-out contractor with decades of experience delivering exceptional spaces across retail, hospitality, wellness and commercial environments. Their portfolio includes high-profile projects for internationally recognised brands, with recent and previous work including H&M, Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, Louis Vuitton and other major retail clients. They have delivered more than 500 projects across the UK, with an extensive track record of complex Central London schemes, including flagship stores, listed buildings and projects in live trading environments. This is a business where quality, programme and client relationships genuinely matter. Contracts Manager Job Description As Contracts Manager, you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple fit-out projects, ensuring they are completed safely, commercially and to the high standards expected by the companys clients. You will be responsible for: Managing projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover Taking overall responsibility for programme, quality, commercial performance and delivery Managing and coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and site teams Working closely with clients, consultants, designers and project stakeholders Reviewing programmes and ensuring key milestones are achieved Managing project costs, variations, valuations and commercial performance Identifying and resolving project issues proactively Ensuring health & safety and quality standards are maintained throughout Attending project and client meetings Carrying out regular site visits and supporting site teams throughout the project lifecycle Managing multiple projects simultaneously where required Maintaining strong client relationships and supporting repeat business A significant proportion of the projects are based in London, so regular travel to sites will be an important part of the position. The Projects This is predominantly a retail fit-out environment, ranging from smaller schemes around £300k through to projects approaching £3m. The work can involve far more than a traditional interior fit-out, with Powells projects incorporating elements such as: Full strip-outs and refurbishment Structural alterations M&E installations Bespoke joinery and finishes Shopfronts and faade works Mechanical and electrical services High-specification interiors Live retail environments Listed and heritage buildings Complex Central London logistics Recent projects have included flagship retail environments in locations such as Oxford Street, Regent Street, Kensington High Street and Westfield London, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to work on projects where quality and programme are absolutely critical. Contracts Manager Candidate Criteria Were looking for an experienced Contracts Manager with a background in construction, ideally within retail fit-out, commercial fit-out, refurbishment and a similarly fast-paced environment. You will ideally have: Previous experience managing construction/fit-out projects Experience managing projects from start to finish Strong subcontractor and supply chain management skills Good commercial awareness Excellent programme and project management ability Strong client-facing and communication skills The confidence to operate in fast-paced, high-pressure environments A strong eye for quality and attention to detail The ability to manage multiple priorities effectively A willingness to travel regularly to London-based projects Experience of retail fit-out would be highly advantageous, although candidates from strong commercial fit-out, refurbishment or interiors backgrounds may also be considered. Why Join? This isnt simply another Contracts Manager position. Youll be joining a specialist contractor with a genuinely impressive portfolio, working alongside experienced construction professionals and delivering projects for some of the biggest names in retail. Youll have the opportunity to work on high-profile projects in some of Londons most recognisable locations, while taking genuine ownership of projects and playing an important role within a growing and established business. If youre an experienced Contracts Manager looking for your next challenge within a specialist fit-out environment, this is an opportunity well worth exploring. Apply today or contact Alex on 07442070998 for a confidential discussion about the role. TPBN1_UKTJ
