Opportunity Provide high‑quality, effective, and efficient executive support for the Leader, Deputy Leader, and Senior Leadership Team (SLT). This includes diary management, facilitation of meetings, and coordination with elected members, officers, and external stakeholders. The role is hybrid, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office with flexibility to meet business needs. Accountabilities * Provide executive support to the Leader, Deputy Leader, and SLT, ensuring their needs are met efficiently. * Manage a complex diary, handle correspondence, and act as gatekeeper for the Leader and Deputy Leader. * Organise high‑level internal and external meetings, conferences, and visits, arranging suitable venues, room bookings, and travel. * Prepare meeting agendas and papers accurately and on time, ensuring they are effectively communicated and managed. * Brief the Leader, Deputy Leader, and SLT ahead of meetings and keep them informed of relevant changes and developments promptly. * Manage correspondence for the Leader and Deputy Leader, preparing letters and emails and responding to routine enquiries. * Coordinate, monitor, and facilitate Member Enquiries, MP Enquiries, Freedom of Information requests, and Corporate Complaints in partnership with the Assistant Director for Legal and Democratic Services. * Perform duties outside normal office hours when required for urgent needs. * Serve as a point of contact for media enquiries for the Leader, Deputy Leader, Cabinet, and SLT. Experience You Will Bring * Excellent IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software packages. * Experience with high‑level diary management, scheduling meetings, planning agendas, and tracking actions. * Initiative and ability to work independently or as part of a team, identifying high‑risk issues that require escalation and handling urgent situations with prioritised workload and tight deadlines. * Clear, fluent, concise, jargon‑free written communication suitable for the intended audience. * Knowledge of local government context, council policy, and processes. * Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, persuade, and build contacts and rapport. * Commitment to equality and diversity principles and compliance with Council policies.
