Job description
Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) is a joint venture combining the design expertise of Mott MacDonald with the contracting experience of JN Bentley to deliver integrated design and build projects. MMB has worked with Yorkshire Water since 1999 on a wide range of water and wastewater projects, including reservoir upgrades, technology installations, and wastewater treatment systems. The business has an annual turnover exceeding £500 million and employs over 300 people, offering a stable career environment for engineers. Overview As a Design Lead you will contribute to projects that significantly impact our environment and communities. You will work primarily in the UK water market, delivering feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning services that keep water flowing and wastewater treated. Responsibilities * Lead the delivery of multi‑disciplinary design for your projects/programme * Develop and lead a team of electrical, mechanical, civil, and process designers * Drive the development of affordable, low‑carbon solutions, managing opportunities and risks * Deliver detailed designs that meet construction needs and client acceptance, managing cost and programme * Challenge the engineering solutions and delivery effectiveness of your team to ensure the best value for the client * Provide direction and oversight of project controls, ensuring compliance with quality, programme, and cost requirements * Maintain positive client relationships at the project level Qualifications * Degree in Engineering * Chartered or incorporated member of a professional institution (e.g. ICE, IMechE, etc.) or equivalent experience * Outline and detailed design experience of water or wastewater projects and knowledge of the Designer or Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015 * Strong technical knowledge in own discipline and an appreciation of other disciplines What’s in it for you * MMB matches employee pension contributions between 4.5 % and 7 % * Annual bonus schemes shared across the business * Payment of annual professional institution subscription costs * A minimum of 33 days holiday each year, inclusive of public holidays, with flexible carry‑over options * Access to life assurance, private medical insurance, critical illness insurance, and health screening options * Flexible working arrangements and support for balancing responsibilities beyond the workplace * Opportunities to join employee networks supporting inclusivity and diversity * Enhanced family leave policies, including 26 weeks paid maternity and adoption leave, two weeks paid paternity/partner leave, and shared parental leave option * Up to 2 additional paid days leave for significant caring responsibilities * Structured development schemes and mentorship to fast‑track toward chartership reviews and tailored training opportunities Immigration MMB are not currently offering sponsorship to candidates under the Skilled Worker visa route in the UK.
