Nurse / Midwife Practitioner - 16 hours - 12m FTC The closing date is 14 May 2026 Please note this role is on a 12 month fixed term contract covering maternity leave. Are you a Registered Adult Nurse or Midwife who is passionate about reproductive healthcare? We are looking for a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner to join the clinical team in our Finsbury Park unit – working 16 hours per week on Monday and Thursday. A detailed shift pattern and salary information is provided below. As a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner you will provide high quality clinical care to our clients across a range of BPAS reproductive healthcare services, including termination of pregnancy, STI testing and treatment, contraception, and vasectomy. You will be involved in all stages of the client pathway from consultation through to treatment and will work in all areas of the unit including theatre and recovery. The role will involve providing treatment and clinical information to clients both in person and over the phone. You'll have excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills, and be adept at caring for clients in a compassionate and empathetic way. Due to this role’s contract duration, we require the successful candidate to be scan trained. Main duties of the job * Work in accordance with NMC guidelines for professional practice and the wider regulatory frameworks of the Abortion Act 1967, Health & Social Care Act, and BPAS clinical policies & procedures. * Ensure the client understands her options in relation to the pregnancy and, if choosing termination, meets the grounds of the Abortion Act. * Provide information on STI testing, undertake tests and provide results, and discuss the client’s future choice of contraception. * Carefully check for and implement any procedure indicated on client case notes, including administering medication for medical abortion procedures or cervical preparation. * Carry out post‑treatment check‑ups by assessing the physical condition of the client and discussing any concerns. * To care for and support clients undergoing surgical treatments, which may include general anaesthetic, conscious sedation, or local anaesthetic. We are also looking for: * Gynecological nursing experience or a relevant specialty such as sexual health or contraception. * Venepuncture or cannulation skills. About You You will be a Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife with active NMC registration & PIN, with at least 12 months of clinical practice experience, and a keen interest in sexual health & reproductive healthcare. Clinical knowledge & experience of safeguarding and Fraser/Gillick competencies are essential. You will be comfortable using IT & Microsoft Packages including Outlook, Word & Teams. Contract and Working Hours • 12‑month fixed term contract (covering maternity leave) • 16 hours per week – Monday 09:30 to 17:30 and Thursday 08:30 to 17:30 • Annual salary range £44,123 – £50,820 pro‑rata (depending on skills and experience, inclusive of OLW) Location BPAS Finsbury Park – Stroud Green Clinic, 12‑14 Upper Tollington Park, Finsbury Park, London N4 3EL Qualifications * Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Registered Midwife (practising) * Active NMC registration and valid PIN * Ultrasound scanning skills – essential Experience * Minimum 12 months of clinical practice experience * Experience of general nursing or midwifery * Experience completing client documentation and working within guidelines, policies and procedures * Knowledge of Health & Safety, COSHH and infection control * Gynaecological nursing experience or relevant speciality such as sexual health or contraception General * Support a woman's right to choose abortion * Do you have any relative who is a current BPAS employee?
