About the role
In this role you will undertake teaching and related academic activities within established programmes, contributing to the delivery of high‑quality campus‑based and distance learning provision in accounting and finance. You will undertake lectures, seminars, online teaching and personal supervision, provide timely feedback on assessed work, support students pastorally, and maintain availability for consultation through office hours and appropriate online channels.
You will take responsibility for setting and marking coursework, advising students on academic progress, coordinating assessment activities such as examinations where required, and ensuring that student feedback on teaching is actively sought and responded to constructively. The role also involves contributing to module design, quality assurance and curriculum development when required, developing teaching materials that make effective use of learning technologies, and engaging in administrative duties, committees and continuous professional development activities that support the work of the School and the wider University.
About you
You will hold a PhD in a relevant subject, or equivalent professional qualifications and experience, and will have or be working towards a recognised teaching qualification such as a PGCAP or HEA Fellowship. You will demonstrate the ability to communicate complex information clearly, design and deliver course materials effectively, and encourage engagement and commitment to learning among students. A strong command of spoken and written English is essential in order to undertake teaching and administrative duties and to communicate effectively with students and colleagues.
You will be able to work independently and collaboratively within teaching teams, show proven competence in your academic subject area, and demonstrate effective presentation, training and IT skills within a computerised learning environment. You will bring a clear commitment to high‑quality teaching, be responsive to feedback from students and peers, and be willing to contribute to the academic and administrative activities necessary to sustain and enhance teaching provision within the School.
