The Role

The postholder is responsible for delivering the Family Nurse Partnership licensed programme (FNP) intensive home visiting programme to (max 25) vulnerable first time teenage women who are expecting their first baby. The postholder is required to be the lead in developing therapeutic relationships with clients and work intensively within complex family situations from early pregnancy until the child reaches 2 years when the programme is completed, whilst also ensuring fidelity to the programmes licensing requirements. As part of the licensing requirements The FNP Team is also supported by a Consultant Psychologist and Data Manager/Administrator.

The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday.

The interview for this post is in two stages including a formal panel interview and a less formal interview with existing FNP clients.

The successful applicant will require to be available to attend the FNP learning programme for all mandatory dates outlined below. Education is facilitated using a hybrid model of residential, face to face training and online learning.

  • 31st August 4th September 2026 Pre foundations learning and SQA induction. At base and online.
  • 7th 11th September 2026 Foundations in FNP practice. 5 days/ 4 nights. Residential.
  • 4th November 2026 MI intermediate in FNP practice. Non-residential.
  • 2nd 3rd December 2026 - MI advanced in FNP practice. 2 days / 1 night. Residential.
  • 24th February 2027 Breastfeeding Support in FNP practice. Non-residential.
  • 16th 18th March 2027 Next steps in FNP practice. 3 days / 2 nights. Residential.
  • 19th 20th May 2027 - PIPE in FNP practice. 2 days / 1 night. Residential.
  • Autumn 2027 DANCE in FNP practice. Online.
  • 8th February 2028 Introduction to flourishing in FNP practice. Online.
  • 25th 26th April 2028 Flourishing in FNP practice 2 days / 1 night. Residential.

In this key role, you will:

  • Daily use of computer equipment.
  • Combination of sitting, standing and walking.
  • Movement of training materials and portable scales across the sector.
  • Travelling to various meetings and training locally, in Scotland and UK wide.
  • Concentration required to recruit and assess clients into programme, analysing data and preparing reports.

What You'll Bring:

  • First level registered nurse or midwife with current NMC registration.
  • Professional knowledge acquired at diploma/degree level underpinning further specialist education and training such as Public Health Nursing/Health Visiting.
  • Masters degree relevant to the role such as Nursing and Health Studies, Psychology or demonstration of a range of skills commensurate with masters level. These could include Practice Educator role, specialist role in supporting looked after children and parenting support roles.
  • Successfully complete the mandatory FNP core education and training programme, delivered to Masters level.
  • A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
